Learn through Participation
Monthly Grief Support Groups
HeartLight Center does not separate observers from participants as anyone should have access to grief support at any point on their grief journey. However we ask that anyone wanting to attend a group to “observe”, to please have a discussion with HeartLight Center staff first or to ensure you are registering with the intent of participating in the group. HeartLight Center is about coming together to support one another as people, regardless of roles. If you are curious about how a group runs, we invite you to watch one of our videos or to fill out this interest form so that we can support your learning in the most meaningful way, while holding safe space for all.

Intro to TRE – Denver
This in-depth intro class covers Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®). These simple exercises can assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and the physical effects of trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating which has a calming effect on the nervous system. TRE is designed to be a self-help tool that once learned, can be used to promote resiliency and better autonomic nervous system regulation.
Date: Saturday, January 25th at HeartLight Center from 10-11:30am
Growing with our Grief: Understanding the Science and Tools for Somatic Healing – Denver
The workshop, created by The LIGHT Movement, is a 2-hour experience designed to help participants understand the physiological impact of grief and learn somatic tools for growth and integration. Rooted in the goals of The LIGHT Movement, the workshop aims to remind participants they are not alone, teach science-based somatic practices to support mind-body integration, and foster meaning-making and purpose in grief. Through an inclusive and supportive environment, attendees explore concepts like contraction and expansion, polyvagal theory, the window of tolerance, and vagus nerve regulation. Practical tools, including gentle yoga, breathwork, bilateral movements, and vagus nerve stimulation, are practiced to empower participants to navigate their grief. The session concludes with reflection and grounding, offering a pathway to self-compassion and community solidarity while honoring diverse grief experiences. This workshop equips participants with actionable knowledge and practices to continue growing with their grief journeys. Register on the LIGHT Movement website.

Beyond the Grief Workshop – Denver
Please join us in a space of holding both gratitude and grief, pain and purpose. The space we will share honors that we do not have to stay in the deepest spaces of grief forever, but that we integrate it and remember and honor our loved ones in life going forward. As we step into a new year with grief, the ability to feel a sense of enjoyment is often accompanied by guilt for seemingly “stepping out of” our grief. Learn more about self-care techniques to help navigate the highs and lows of the grief journey. Amanda will guide you through the use of various self-care approaches including writing/journaling, EFT Tapping, and more. Cost: $35, includes light refreshments. Registration is required.
NEW DATE: Wed. Feb. 12th from 6-8:00pm at HeartLight Center
The Body In Grief Mindfulness Workshop – Virtual
rief doesn’t require words. It’s the physical sensation interwoven with emotional states that inform us when our grief is present, severe, or subsiding. Yet we’re given few tools for understanding how grief actually feels in our body, and how we can bear those sensations on a daily or hourly basis.
This experiential workshop will show you how to gently hold space for uncomfortable physical states, how to prevent discomfort from leading to worst-case thinking, and how to regain a sense of safety in your skin. These mindfulness techniques are a wonderful complement to other support tools, such as talk therapy and movement therapy, for improving mind-body wellness during grief.
Meeting Date: Sat. Feb 22, 2025
start time: 9amPT/10amMST/11amCT/12pmET
Cost: $20
