Narrative Power: Finding Words for Living, Dying, Death and Bereavement
A special presentation for Hospice Professionals, Clergy, Therapists/Counselors, Volunteers, Companions, Death Doulas, Death Care Professionals, including Funeral Directors, Leadership and Administrative Professionals, Law Enforcement, First Responders, and Victim’s Advocates.
When losses occur, words are sought…sometimes found…sometimes offered. Drawing on bibliotherapeutic and narrative therapy principles, perspectives and tools for narrative power will be presented, demonstrated and discussed. Narrative is not about having people tell their stories. Narrative is interested in power – who has the power to speak stories into existence. Voices of grievers and the bereft , thereby, are heard and validated.
Using metaphor and related prompts, participants will be invited to consider using stories as prompts for words that foster grieving and healing.

Grief Endings and New Beginnings: Attention to Each and Both
A special educational presentation for anyone who is grieving or supporting a griever.

Through our lives we meet many changes carrying with them an ending that always leads to creating a new beginning. When the loss of a loved one is one of those intersections that disrupts our lives and necessitates change, we may struggle with the new labels we are given such as widow, grieving grandparent, or survivor. We are challenged by uncertainty. Plans, assumptions, long-held hopes and dreams may be shattered. In this session, we will explore the resiliency we acquire that can bring us through our evolving lives. The more we are aware of our losses and our gains, the more prepared we can be for the uncertainty of the future and our story of who we are becoming because of our loss.

Facing the Mourning Facilitator Training

Learn to run our flagship program, Facing the Mourning. An interactive support group designed to help with the grieving process by using visual and thought-provoking tools. During these four sessions, the participants share their story, build memorials, compose letters, write in journals and develop goals with milestones. Designed for all types of losses, individuals and family members.

Our facilitator training will enable you to offer this program through your organization.

Please join us on Friday, March 21st at 11am (MST) for the next training on Zoom.

Learn through Participation

Join one of our upcoming 4-Week Facing the Mourning groups to experience the program first-hand. Take what you have learned in the training and see it applied, while also engaging in the discussions and activities yourself and explore your grief experiences as a fellow griever. By doing so, you will enhance your facilitation skills.

Monthly Grief Support Groups

We ask anyone who attends group be in a space where they are participating as a griever, rather than an educational opportunity. Our highest priority is the sanctity of groups. If you want to learn about grief support groups by observing and not participating, we invite you to attend trainings or to watch our Open Support Group videos as groups are not a learning or observational environment.

If you are curious about how a group runs, we invite you to watch one of our videos or to fill out this interest form so that we can support your learning in the most meaningful way, we’d love to connect with you.

Upcoming Workshops

We welcome you to join us for upcoming seminars and workshops that explore various topics on the grief journey.

Learn by experiencing a variety of tools and approaches for supporting bereaved individuals while experiencing them yourself as a co-griever.

The Body In Grief Mindfulness Workshop – Virtual

rief doesn’t require words. It’s the physical sensation interwoven with emotional states that inform us when our grief is present, severe, or subsiding. Yet we’re given few tools for understanding how grief actually feels in our body, and how we can bear those sensations on a daily or hourly basis.

This experiential workshop will show you how to gently hold space for uncomfortable physical states, how to prevent discomfort from leading to worst-case thinking, and how to regain a sense of safety in your skin. These mindfulness techniques are a wonderful complement to other support tools, such as talk therapy and movement therapy, for improving mind-body wellness during grief.

Meeting Date: Sat. Feb 22, 2025
start time: 9amPT/10amMST/11amCT/12pmET

Cost: $20
