Facing the Mourning Facilitator Training
Learn to run our flagship program, Facing the Mourning. An interactive support group designed to help with the grieving process by using visual and thought-provoking tools. During these four sessions, the participants share their story, build memorials, compose letters, write in journals and develop goals with milestones. Designed for all types of losses, individuals and family members.
Our facilitator training will enable you to offer this program through your organization.
Please join us on Friday, January 31st at 11am (MST) for the next training on Zoom.
Learn through Participation
Join one of our upcoming 4-Week Facing the Mourning groups to experience the program first-hand. Take what you have learned in the training and see it applied, while also engaging in the discussions and activities yourself. By doing so, you will enhance your facilitation skills.

Grief and the Holidays – Virtual
The holiday season can be difficult when you are grieving. Traditional celebrations may feel overwhelming, and sometimes even the thought of making it through the “cheerful” holiday season seems impossible. No matter what you celebrate, it’s important to know that you aren’t alone, and you can survive the holiday season in a way that allows you to be comfortable and to honor your grief and remember your loved one in ways that are helpful to you. This workshop is a way to get some support and helpful tips when grieving around the holiday season. We will discuss coping with emotions, how to handle triggering traditions, and ways to navigate social and familial events.
When: Saturday, Dec. 14th at 8:30am (PT)/ 9:30am (MST)/ 10:30am (CT)/ 11:30am (EST)

Open heART Studio for the Holidays – Denver
We invite you to share in creative space to help explore and connect about grief. In this class, participants will choose from a wide range of branches as the start of the Nature Mobile creation. We will construct functional mobiles or wall hangings using the branch with items such as twine, yarn, cording, ribbons etc. We will attach paper, found objects, memorabilia, charms, etc. or a combination of the above to create a balanced mobile that can be used as a memorial to your person, or a tribute to the holidays, or to honor you and your grief as a whole. As a group we will share our grief and discover how a clear focus on your project will assist you on your journey. Art can be very therapeutic and instrumental in the healing process.
HeartLight Center will provide supplies that you can use to create, and you are welcomed and encouraged to also bring pictures, items or specific supplies to use during this class. No past art experience required.
