After working with grieving individuals, families, and those who care for them, Jennifer McBride became acutely aware that a great need existed for a program that would serve those who did not fit into what our community offers for care. In 1999, with the wholehearted support of John Horan and Valerie Horan, Jennifer’s dream resulted in the creation of HeartLight Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, specifically dedicated to grief support and education.
Over the years, HeartLight Center has welcomed thousands of grieving people seeking to find community and support during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Programs have expanded from one group each month to over 13 groups, including community groups that have made their home at HeartLight. Jennifer retired from her role at HeartLight Center in 2020, and continues to be a champion for the needs of the bereaved individuals and families in our community, while HeartLight Center continues to grow and serve.
