From 3:00-5:00 we will offer education, discussion around caregiving and the opportunity to share about your personal experience and listen to others. All will be invited to participate in creating a memorial that represents your loved one or personal experience with grief by rock painting. Refreshments will be provided.
About the Facilitators:
Maggie Sellars is a licensed professional counselor specializing in grief and loss as well as caregiver support for both at-home and professional caregivers. Prior to becoming a mental health counselor, she worked in assisted living and memory care communities across the country. Maggie’s time spent working with older adults and their families is partly what inspired her to pursue her degree in counseling. She has been in private practice in Denver since September of 2019 and has been volunteering with Heartlight Center for the past year as a support group facilitator.
Allison Gary is the Program Director for HeartLight Center and a therapist in private practice licensed in Colorado who specializes in grief and loss counseling. Allison’s personal history with grief and loss brought her to the field of mental health, including caring for her grandmother who had an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Allison recognizes that while grief is a universal human experience, it is also a very unique experience to each individual. Allison enjoys facilitating and presenting to share and connect with others in the group setting.
